Announcement of the competition for the position of Director of the Lithuanian Institute of History

“Dear applicants,  

We invite you to apply for the position of Director of the Lithuanian Institute of History. The mission of the Lithuanian Institute of History is to study the development of the Lithuanian nation, Lithuanian society, its culture, economy, and nation-building, to collect, systematize, and disseminate the documentary and intangible historical heritage through the development of fundamental and applied research, to contribute to the creation of civil society, the formation of historical culture and critical discourse in society, and the preservation of cultural identity through the results of its research, to train researchers in history and ethnology together with universities, to shape the strategy of Lithuanian historical and ethnological sciences, to actively participate in the creation of knowledge-based society, and to expand the international research community network.

The new Director of the Institute will have 112 employees, the opportunity to seek additional funding (€4.4 million budgetary funding, €0.7 million project funding for 2023) and to develop the Institute as an institution of special national interest.  

We are looking for an executive, who not only fully understands the mission of the Institute, but also has the ability to develop it as a leader,” Justas Nugaras, Vice-Minister at the Lithuanian Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, addresses the applicants.

DIRECTOR’S SALARY  

€5,147.1 before tax. Financial incentives may be available depending on performance.
