This paper presents the results of a systematic literature review and a content document analysis focused on the sustainable development of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The content document analysis, which involved a detailed evaluation of documents and reports, allowed us to identify and elucidate the specific roles that NGOs play in promoting and achieving sustainable development.
